Both the districts of Goa (North Goa and South Goa) have a Hindu majority population. In Goa with a population of 15 lakhs, 8.33 per cent of the population is Muslim (1.22 lakh). The state has the largest number of Christians after Hindus. The Election Commission said that the notification will be issued on January 21.
Candidates will be able to file nominations till January 28 and scrutiny of nominations will be done by January 29. With this, candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations till January 31. Voting will be held in the state on February 14. The counting of votes will be done on March 10.
