This was the pairing that everyone assumed immediately after the teaser was announced earlier in the week. Of of course, Tom Brady is widely considered to be the greatest ever (G.O.A.T) and Patrick Mahomes is looked at as the next great quarterback to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors. It's natural to believe that there's a chance or likelihood of two athletes being featured on the cover. But, EA Sports' teaser features an elder goat and baby goat, and it's possible to envision Brady and Mahomes. Both quarterbacks have appeared on the Madden NFL Cover before, with Brady taking part in Madden NFL 18, and Mahomes making a comeback for Madden NFL 20.
It's admittedly somewhat boring if this was the combo because it's like these two were just being featured on the cover of the magazine a short time ago. Since they were toe-toe at the last Super Bowl, however, this seems to be a fitting time.
This will create problems for the opposing players. Imagine a call on 3rd-and-forever that floods three receivers to the left and the fourth pass-catcher scurrying through the open field only to cut off his line of sight way short of the sticks, and leave little chance of a conversion? This could result in frustrations. This, too, feels right.
It'll be fun to see how this plays out in practice, as the new version Madden debuts later this year. Keep an eye out for more information on how playing (or against) the Saints can provide a completely different experience than other alternatives.
