Facial mites, known as demodex mites, are minuscule creatures that inhabit the hair follicles on your face. Their diet consists of dead skin cells and oils. Normally, these mites don't cause any noticeable symptoms, but if their population grows excessively (a condition called demodicosis), it can result in small white bumps, dryness, itching, scaly skin, and irritated areas resembling acne sores. If left untreated, an overgrowth of these mites can exacerbate or trigger other skin conditions.
